Introduction

Endocrinology and metabolism is an internal medicine based specialty the diagnosed and treats diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, pituitary gland disease, adrenal gland disease, morbid obesity, and osteoporosis through history taking, physical examination, and appropriate tests and examinations

 

Medical service

Diabetic Shared Care Network

Diabetic medical care team (including Doctors, diabetic educators, and dieticians, etc.) is formed to provide comprehensive and complete examination and medical care to diabetic patients, and it is hoped that all diabetic patients in the hospital will received complete diabetic care in the future.

 

Endocrine function and related tests

At present, endocrine function tests performed include pituitary function assessment, adrenal function assessment, continuous glucose monitoring, ankle-brachial index, thyroid ultrasound and fine needle aspiration cytology. In the future, we will strive for the establishment of a “Metabolic and Endocrine Function Examination Room” in the hospital.

 

Research direction

  1. thUsing the data from the Diabetic Shared Care Network, we will design and conduct cross-sectional and prospective studies on diabetes.

    1. Set up a Teach ME (Teach Metabolism & Endocrinology) private club on Facebook to provide an online learning environment for Doctors, medical students, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to learn about endocrine and metabolism.
